A Randomly Selected Newspaper Headline:

The following is a randomly selected newspaper headline from many years ago:

Welcome to my blog. Please feel free to leave a comment. I assure you I always read and appreciate everything you have to say. Unfortunately, thanks to Blogger being, well . . . Blogger, I can not respond to comments nor leave any on your blogs. They simply disappear into the ether. Occasionally I will remember to respond in the next blog post I put up, but usually these good intentions slip my mind. So if you want to ask a question or get a response to any comments you may have please leave an email address or other contact method in your comment and I will get back to you.

I have also added a separate page to the blog for the Tower of Magic with a brief summary of all the rooms of the ToM in the one spot. The link is just below this and above the main body of the blog, or you can just click here.

Madame Bellerose's - Week Fifteen

At this point there are far too many things on the list of things to be done before Christmas in the 1:1 scale world for me to have much time to work in the 1:12 scale world and so have more or less given up on my aim to have this house finished before Christmas. This week I managed to install the finials on the stair posts in the Lounge and Bedroom - and NOTHING else. I only got that much done because I gave up looking for something fancy/gothic and used plain round balls. I didn't have enough balls for the stairs from ground to middle floor as well, so that's still not done. I haven't even taken a photo of the 'finished' stairs yet! To finish the house I need to make and/or install: -Faux Lights (Lounge, Seance Room, Hall) -Stair Rails and Finials (Seance Room, Hall) -2-3 Large potted plants (Hall) -Elaborate Cat Bed (supposed to be the Bedroom, but no room left! Have to find somewhere to squeeze it in!) -Seat or side table (Hall) -Fix anything that looks wrong when everything else is in place! It really isn't a long list, maybe I can finish before Christmas after all?

  2. Hi Anonymous,

Thanks for the praise! I don't post my email address (or my real name) on the internet for privacy/security reasons. People who know me know how to find me and everyone else just has to leave messages here or on Flickr, in forums etc until I decide I trust them. You can join up to a free account of Flickr and not add any photos, just add people as contacts when you want to keep track of their photos. I think you can leave comments on Flickr anonymously/without an account too.

In the meantime I can offer a few general tips; Don't glue your kit together until you have decided what you want to do and how you're going to do it because you may discover somethings are easier to do while everything is still in pieces. That said, be prepared to change your mind halfway through, especially if something isn't working out the way you wanted. Visit any dollshouse shops in your area (if you're lucky enough to have them) to see what you can get and how much it will cost you - they will probably also have lots of tips and ideas too. You don't have to buy everything you want right away, but it's good to know what you can expect to pay later on when you're ready for that particular piece. Also try and think what you can make yourself and what you can make it out of. And think very carfully about lights - they do look very spectacular when turned on but they are incredibly EXPENSIVE and a great deal of work. Most of my houses have fake lights, not working ones and if you're a beginner, it's probably the best way to go. If you do want your Tower to light up you have to decide before you start, plan where your lights will be and drill all the necessary holes first.

If you're looking for ideas you may also like to look at the Dollshouse Emporium Forums HERE You'll find photos of finished and work-in-progress dollshouses in the Home Sweet Home Gallery and in other parts of the forum you can ask any questions you may have, the people there are always happy to help!

    Good luck!
